Southland And Langwarrin Stations

As part of the Peninsula Rail Link project, two new stations would be built outside the Mornington Peninsula: Southland and Langwarrin.

Southland

Melway ref: 77 G11

Platforms: 2

Carpark spaces: N/A

Bus terminal bays: 2

Staffed: Yes

Southland station has been proposed for over a century, and has been needed for at least as long, but always seems to go in and out of Government proposals. The former Napthine Government announced the beginning of construction of the station in 2014, but their version would be devoid of customer service facilities, covering only the basics, which is poor for what is expected to be the 4th-busiest station on the line.

Our campaign recommends full customer service facilities, enough such that trains to/from the peninsula can also stop at the station on their express runs.

Langwarrin

Melway ref: 103 D9

Platforms: 2

Carpark spaces: 100

Bus terminal bays: 2

Staffed: No

Langwarrin station was originally built as part of the former Stony Point and Mornington lines on October 1 1888. On June 15 1981 both lines were closed, but when the Stony Point line reopened on September 27 1984, Langwarrin station was not reopened with it.

Our campaign advocates for the reopening of Langwarrin station, with a new carpark, two platforms, and improved bus services, connecting the station to the rest of the town, as well as to the nearby Karingal Hub shopping centre.
